We are now carrying aftermarket wheels for the VW Bug, Bus, Thing, Vanagon, Type 3 and Type 4. Now in stock!
So what's the difference between our wheels and the other guys?
Our wheels have better offsets, better finish, quality paint and superior chrome with a 2 year warranty - and our wheels are cheaper! They come with better caps with stainless steel fixings and clips on the BRM cap. OE VeeDub wheels are manufactured in China* from entirely new molds, ensuring a consistent shape from wheel to wheel.
*CIP and the other big guys 'say' at this time that their wheels are made in Europe... I've been assured by my contacts in England that they buy theirs from Midland Wheels in England, who have them made in China!!
OE VeeDub wheels come with a 2 year written 'no-quibble' warranty, including normal use and - above all - a warranty on finish and chrome! (Yep, even in the States close to the ocean and where the highways department use salt.) Of course, things like slapping the curb at 25 MPH are not covered. Cast into wheels VIA and JWL marks are internationally recognized as wheel standards, max load, ET, size and pcd.
Select wheels by Bolt Pattern (or, chose 'Bug Wheels' etc. from menu at left).
All wheels come with the logo shown in the picture. If you prefer the Empi logo for the 5 and 8 spoke designs, you can order center cap logos cheaply from Empi. We will not supply these logos, as for us to do so would be inappropriate. However once the wheels are yours, we are led to believe you can attach any logo you like! (oh - and why do we call the one style 'Fooks' ? we'd rather not upset the guys with a very-similar name)
Tire recommendations from the manufacturer.
For VW Bugs, most people go for 185/65/15 or 195/65/15 tire on the back and a smaller or lower profile on the front, such as 145/80/15 or 185/55/15 (some use a 'smart car' tire). For really low cars, try 145/65/15, 165/65/15 or 175/55/15. These tires all fit on a 4.5, 5 or 5.5" rim, but the smaller 145's are a real squeeze on the 5.5" wheels.
For 1968-79 Bus and 1980-91 Vanagons, all the 5x112mm pattern wheels fit (we tested them) and the caps go on, too. The ET and the slightly smaller width means they fit and look the same as the 6 with an ET30 (they widen the track a little) so they should do the trick as they are. For Bus 72-79 and Vanagon we recommend 195-65-15 tires all-round unless really lowered. On split window Bus and bay window Bus through 1972 you can only get a 185-65-15 tire on.
Karmann Ghias can be tricky as there's not a lot of room at the back, but they should all go on just err on the side of caution with tire size.
Drop spindles and disc kits can widen the track on the front causing problems with clearance.
